Survive Overnight in a Mega Store Cubes: Generator Items and Base Boxes
Learn how the three colored Power Cubes power the generator and how ordinary boxes build a base.
Why the Survive Overnight in a Mega Store Cubes Matter
The red, green, and blue cubes are progression items, not another name for barricade boxes. Current community documentation says all three Power Cubes are used to power the generator in the electrical room.
Boxes, pallets, and other furniture remain useful for base defense, but they are a separate system.
Staging a Base While You Collect the Power Cubes
The strongest early base is not a secret room or a locked office — it is a piece of furniture. Walk to the upper-left corner of the store and find the industrial shelf stacked with boxes. The top level of that shelf becomes your home.
You can reach the popular upper-left shelf from two sides by climbing the small blue shelves. Barricade those approaches with ordinary boxes or furniture; do not confuse those barricades with the blue Power Cube.
Close Both Entrances Before Dark
Daytime is useful for moving both supplies and Power Cubes. Keep ordinary barricade materials at the base and reserve inventory space for the colored cubes when you are ready to take them to the generator.
The Sportskeeda Escape the CEO guide recommends exactly this rhythm: stockpile ammo and food from the mart, return to your shelf, and close the opening at night. It also notes that height matters — employees are far less likely to reach you when you are perched on one of the store's highest shelves.
What to Stack and What to Skip
| Barricade option | Where to find it | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Boxes | Piled around the store, especially the industrial shelves | Barricade material only; separate from Power Cubes |
| Pallets | Scattered across the floor | Usable filler for gaps, but no special advantage noted |
| Tin roof panels | Available around the store | Alternative block, best treated as backup material |
One thing worth knowing: the upper-left corner is not a popular patrol route. Destructoid's team reported that most nights no employee even walks past, and the occasional manager who does usually fails to notice a quiet player. Your first few nights may be genuinely peaceful.
The Daytime Loop: Loot, Eat, Restock
Days are your only shopping window, so treat them like a supply run rather than a sightseeing tour. In Destructoid's testing, roughly two burgers per day kept the Energy bar healthy. Stack extra snacks at the base so a bad night never turns into a starvation spiral.
Gear matters just as much. Grab any pistol or assault rifle you find, and pick up a katana as a backup melee option. Purple premium coins are worth collecting too — they can be spent on stronger weapons in later sessions.
Inventory Slots Are Tight — Use the Floor
At the time of the May 23, 2025 Destructoid walkthrough, the game gave players four item slots, with two more purchasable with Robux. The workaround is simple and free: drop items at your base and let them pile up. A stockpile on the shelf beats a full backpack, because you can swap weapons without abandoning supplies.
| Supply priority | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Burgers and sodas | Keep the Energy bar from draining mid-night |
| Pistol / assault rifle | Primary answer to employees at your barricade |
| Shotgun | Emergency swap if a barricade wall actually breaks |
| Katana | Silent backup when ammo runs dry |
| First Aid pack / medkit | Mandatory nighttime insurance |
| Purple premium coins | Long-term weapon unlocks across sessions |
Night Routine While the Power Cubes Are Staged
When the lights drop, stay behind your ordinary barricade stack. The colored Power Cubes should be treated as progression items to protect and deliver to the generator, not as walls.
Movement costs Energy and increases your chances of being spotted, so limit it. Sit behind your barricade, watch both climb points, and let attackers come to you. Destructoid's approach was to use a gun on anyone climbing, then switch to a shotgun the moment a barrier started to give way. Keep a First Aid pack in your inventory the whole night regardless.
Community references to "color cubes" should be read as progression-item references unless a source explicitly says otherwise; ordinary stacked boxes are barricade props, not the three Power Cubes.
Difficulty appears to ramp the longer you last. Even so, Destructoid reported plenty of quiet nights where nobody attacked at all — so do not abandon a working base just because it feels too easy.
Night 6, the CEO, and the Escape Event
Update 1.0.0, documented by Sportskeeda on May 27, 2025, lowered enemy spawn rates and vision, cleaned up the mobile interface, fixed bugs, and added the optional Escape the CEO ending. That event is the closest thing the game has to a finish line.
The CEO only shows up on Night 6, triggered when a player tries to leave and sets off the store alarms instead. The CEO and a crowd of employees then sweep the building and turn hostile the moment they spot you. Two hard rules: the CEO cannot be killed, and each hit deals 50 damage, meaning two hits can end your run.
Employees, unlike the CEO, can be eliminated and do not respawn, so thinning them out is a real strategy. The CEO is slow — sprint away and manage Stamina rather than trying to fight.
Disable All Five Alarms
| Alarm location | How many |
|---|---|
| Front entrance | 2 |
| Middle of the store | 1 |
| Back of the store | 2 |
They glow red in the dark, which makes them easy to spot once you know where to look. Clear all five, then head for the exit. Escaping awards a win/trophy and lets you choose: re-enter Blue's through the entrance to keep playing, or head to the lobby via the red car (or by waiting about 90 seconds).
FAQ
Do I really need cubes to survive in Survive Overnight in a Mega Store? Yes, for the documented generator objective. The red, green, and blue Power Cubes are the three items used to power the electrical-room generator; ordinary furniture can still handle base defense.
Where is the best spot for a Survive Overnight in a Mega Store cubes base? The upper-left industrial shelf is a useful staging base while collecting the cubes, but it is not itself a cube location. The colored Power Cubes are found in their documented store departments.
Can you kill the CEO? No. As of the May 27, 2025 Sportskeeda report, the CEO is invulnerable and deals 50 damage per hit. Disable the five alarms and escape instead.
How many items can I carry in Survive Overnight in a Mega Store? At the time of the May 23, 2025 Destructoid walkthrough, four slots, with two extra available for Robux. Stashing supplies at your base is the free way around that limit.
